The Fight is Not My Own

When my lips quiver
And, my bones shake

I find strength
Unimaginable
When I invite You into
The battle

Not for one moment
Am I alone
Though the enemy
Tries his hand
At the circumstances
That rise before me

I cannot fight this battle on my own
My heart whispers
“I know”
You simply reply

Offering You my sword
You take it in stride
With strength and wisdom
Not even the greatest war heroes
Can understand

When I open my eyes
There is no trace of the enemy
But, instead
Surrounded on all sides
Are the reinforcements
Of Your Army
Fighting what I cannot
Fight on my own

What stood before me
Was impossible
But, impossible
Does not frighten You
Impossible is where
You display Your glory best

So, though the battle still
Rages around me
I find peace
In the middle of it all
This battle is the LORD’s

“The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:14
